McPherson Ranges, NSW/QLD border

Both Sunrise & Blood Limes have their origin in red finger lime country on the Queensland and New South Wales border. This is rainforest country, specifically the rainforests that straddle the McPherson Ranges and close to the imaginary line that forms the ridge of the range and the two states’ border.

The McPherson Ranges are a spur of the Great Dividing Range and form part of the stunning Scenic Rim; a region that’s home to ancient rainforests, historic national parks, charming towns and villages, galleries and festivals.

For those who love nature, this is an area of significant beauty and sits across several National Parks such as Mount Barney, Border Ranges and Lamington, which possess a World Heritage Listing.

Whether you’re a foodie, a nature lover or looking for an easy family get-away, the Scenic Rim region has something for everyone.

Blood Lime

Sunrise Lime

Citrus australasica var. sanguinea X Citrus x Limonia

Recognised by their crimson red skin and olive shape, blood limes (also known as Red centre limes) have a unique flavour that merges the sourness of lime (a characteristic of it’s hybrid parent, the red finger lime) with the sweetness of a mandarin (the other parent, the Ellendale hybrid, or mandarin/orange).

This hybrid native citrus was developed by the CSIRO specifically for Australian (salt resistant) conditions, and has high levels of antioxidants and vitamins.

Citrus australasica x

The Sunrise Lime is another great example of Australian ingenuity.

The CSIRO has created a citrus varietal bred for Australian conditions. Alongside the blood lime (a highlighted botanical in our Australian Dry Gin), we are now using the sunrise lime in our Coastal Gin.

A cross between a native finger lime and the Calamondin (mandarin crossed with cumquat), the sunrise lime provides a combination of sweetness / sharpness that adds further depth to our Coastal Gin.

An Australian Dry

Upfront juniper followed by subtle tones of anise, sunburnt wattle and saltbush. Piquant lime with hints of mandarin, finishing with a warm spicy glow. A gin for all occasions.

Gindu is about discovery. The chance to discover more of our great land, be inspired by stunning landscapes, and savour unique Australian botanicals. Our second distillation is our next step in roaming far and wide, and to include the botanicals that appeal through their flavour profile and amazing stories.

This isn’t just our gin, it’s yours.
